At Westfield, Year 5 and 6 pupils have the opportunity to go on a residential adventure trip. This year, they are going to Blacklands Farm at the end of September. Providing children with the opportunity to go on an adventure holiday presents them with challenges, fun and time in the great outdoors. We also choose for both year groups to go at the beginning of the year as it is a good opportunity for the children to develop team building skills and for staff to get to know them in a different setting.
The experiences develop children’s self-esteem, confidence and problem solving abilities. It also requires them to work as part of a team and recognise their own and others’ strengths.
During their time in this challenging (but fun!) environment, potential can be unlocked and the children can see clearly, perhaps for the first time, what they might truly be capable of achieving in life.
