1 Halt Who Goes There?

In the autumn term we study the Battle of Hastings in 1066. We also look at life in a castle and what it must have been like to live there.

We have fun on a visit to Battle Abbey, find out what life would be like living in a castle with Mad Maude and celebrate what we have found out with a Medieval banquet, complete with music and a song we have produced with some help from Rob Greig.

Let the battle begin!

We had great fun at Battle Abbey. We learnt all about the main events and got to act out the battle. Some of us were the Norman soldiers and some of us were Saxon soldiers. Can you tell which is which?

We were able to try on the armour to get a feel of what it would have been like to fight with it on. We then walked down to the battle field to see if we could find any evidence that the battle took place there!

Sewing the Bayeux Tapestry

After our visit we then designed our own sections of the Bayeux Tapestry. We then sewed our designs using coloured thread used in the real tapestry. Look at how good we are at sewing!
