5 Moo Baa La La La

Our new topic for Term 5 is called Moo, Baa, La, La, La and is all about…

During this term we will be finding out about animals: animals’ lives, what they eat and where they like to live.

If you have any pets at home we would love to hear about them. Perhaps you could bring in some photographs of them and tell us how you look after them. What is the best thing about having your pet and what funny things do they do? If there are any grown-ups in your family who raise animals or have a job involving animals maybe they would like to come in and talk to us about it.

We will be using non-fiction books to find out information about snails, bugs and dinosaurs and reading stories about ‘The Little Red Hen’, ‘Farmer Duck’, ‘Walking in the Jungle’ and ‘Old MacDonald’.  If you have any stories or non-fiction books about animals we would love to see them and will try to read as many as we can.

During this term we will be making our own ‘ugly bug’ headdresses and face paint designs, going on minibeast hunts and pond dipping. We are hoping to arrange some animal visitors and are looking forward to a trip to a farm.

Since everyone really enjoyed our rhyme challenge earlier in the year I thought you might like a new challenge, so this term we aim to learn some new signs for…animals! There are some to get us all started from the BBC ‘Something Special’ website:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/something-special/makes/something-special-printsigns/
