Welcome to Westfield School

Our school vision

At Westfield School we aim to create an inclusive, creative community in which all children can thrive. We develop children’s learning skills and immerse them in experiences which support them to Inspire, Create and Achieve as global citizens.

At Westfield we:

Lifelong learning

Teamwork and leadership

Well rounded individuals

Connected and responsible members of the community

Memorable, purposeful learning experiences

A positive growth mindset

Through resilience and determination

Our personal goals!

We strongly believe that children need to feel safe, secure and happy in order to learn. We are therefore committed to creating a welcoming and nurturing environment with high expectations for children’s behaviour that contributes to the learning and wellbeing of all pupils. When children walk through the door at Westfield, we expect them to demonstrate good behaviours for learning through the 3 R’s: Responsible, Respectful and Ready to Learn.

We pride ourselves on teaching children essential skills for life to ensure success both in school and beyond. These essential skills are taken from Skills Builder and are as follows:

  • Listening – receiving, retaining and processing of information and ideas
  • Speaking – orally transmitting of information or ideas
  • Problem solving – ably finding a solution to a situation or challenge
  • Creativity – using imagination and generating new ideas
  • Staying positive – ably using tactics and strategies to overcome setbacks and achieve goals
  • Aiming high – the ability to set clear, tangible goals and devise a robust route to achieving them
  • Leadership – supporting, encouraging and developing myself and others to achieve a shared goal
  • Teamwork – working cooperatively with others towards achieving a shared goal

“The views of many parents are reflected in the comment: ‘I think Westfield is a fantastic school. I am so pleased with how well they look after and teach my child there; the staff are warm and welcoming and the school itself really goes the extra mile to make sure learning is fun.'” (Ofsted March 2018)
